Community Action's goal is to root out poverty. In order to work to achieve this goal actions must be taken at the national, state, and local-level:

Build an Economy that Works for Everyone: This can be accomplished by creating and maintaining economic mechanisms and innovative financing to improve the financial and economic conditions of all residents, especially those in need of workforce skills and positions. A variety of work and career opportunities must be developed at pay levels that reward effort and skill appropriately.

Investing in Our Future: We can invest in our future by providing quality education and workforce training to individuals in order to improve the quality of life in communities, and increase economic opportunities. Investing in sound education and workforce development policies today will result in a greater capacity to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Maximize Equal Opportunity: We must remove barriers and create public policies, programs and initiatives (including enforcement strategies) that ensure maximum opportunity for all those seeking to improve their lives. By doing so we can ensure that opportunities are fully accessible and widely promoted, resulting in more individuals reaching their full potential.

Utah's Community Action Agencies are taking action by providing job training, education, and employment services, all of which are key to helping people with low-incomes reach self-sufficiency. Not all programs are offered statewide. For more information on a particular program, visit the link to our Local Agencies. Statewide job training and employment services are offered by the Utah Department of Workforce Services.
