Earn it. Keep it. Save it. is a statewide coalition building partnerships to strengthen family financial stability utilizing Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and other asset formation programs. Earn it. Keep it. Save it. coalition partners work together to raise awareness about the EITC through marketing, outreach and partnerships with local businesses and other institutions. Coalition partners also coordinate free tax-preparation services for low- to moderate-income households throughout the state. For more information visit www.utahtaxhelp.org

There are many ways to become involved and we continually value the input and time given to this great work. Here are some ways to be involved…

As a partner, organization or business you can:

• Distribute Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) fliers/brochures at your branch locations.
• Display Earn it. Keep it. Save it. (EIKISI) event posters.
• Enclose VITA flyers in statement envelopes.
• Feature the VITA program and place a link to EIKISI on company website.
• Provide financial literacy at EIKISI events.
• Host a temporary VITA site on location to be utilized by both employees and patrons.
• Encourage employees to volunteer with EIKISI.
• Invite an EIKISI member to present to your employees.
• Host a permanent VITA site on location for the local community.
• Sponsor a VITA site financially.

As an individual you can:

• Volunteer and be trained as a tax preparer to help low-to moderate-income filers complete their tax returns.
• Deliver information about asset building opportunities and other community resources such as housing, healthcare and food assistance.
• Volunteer as an interpreter for clients who are receiving assistance with filing their taxes.
• Be a greeter and welcome tax filers to the free tax site during tax season. Greeters also work with the Site Coordinator to ensure the site runs smoothly and the taxpayer has a positive experience. During the tax season we generally help out 3 hours per week. This is a very import role for a successful VITA Site.

In addition to providing free tax-preparation assistance, Earn it. Keep it. Save it. coalition partners connect tax filers to information, referrals, and services to enable them to invest their tax refunds. This is a first step toward saving for higher education, a first home, a small business or retirement.
